Yoshiro Shimazu took up his position at Koikekanda to control Hokkoku-Kaido. Shimazu’s forces didn’t
make any fences or dig any trenches, instead they used their guns. However, Shimazu’s forces did not have the ability to fight against the EATERN ARMY with force. Yoshihiro attacked anyone who invaded his camp. After noon, the WESTERN ARMY collapsed completely due to betrayal by Hideaki Kobayakawa. In addition, approximately 300 of Shimazu’s soldiers fought their way through to the front of Ieyasu’s camp, and escaped to Utozaka. Naomasa Ii of the EASTERN ARMY, Tadakatsu Honda and others persistently chased Yoshihiro Shimazu. Due to the desperate strategy of Toyohisa Shimazu’s nephew, Yoshihiro was able to come back to Satsuma with 80 soldiers. |
