Mitsunari Ishida who was a general trained by Hideyoshi from an early age, he was famous for being devoted to the Toyotomi clan even after the death of Hideyoshi. He was beheaded in Rokujo-Gawara in Kyoto.
At the Position of Bunroku, the Position of Keicho, the military superintendent officer and the prefect of the Bnchi-group were opposed by the general of the Budan-group over their strategy, In addition, arguments over planning and the assessment of the battle for Ulsan castle was a serious problem. The Budan-group decided to fight against the disloyal retainer Mitsunari Ishida. Therefore he announced that he would support Ieyasu.
At the Battle of Sekigahara, Mitsunari took up his position at the foot of Mt.Sasao. He had surrounded the camp with a double fence An intense fight occurred at Mt. Sasao. Nearly 20000 soldiers under Ngamasa Kuroda, Tadaoki Hosokawa and Yoshiaki Kato bore down upon the command post of Mitsunari with severe force, and tried to break through. The advance guard of Satoie Gamo and Sakon Shima desperately defend the violent attack of the EASTERN ARMY. But in the end the defense line of Mitsunari was broken by the EASTERN ARMY.
So Mitsunari shot a hidden cannon at the EASTERN ARMY. At the same time gun forces showered back‐to‐back bullets upon the EASTERN ARMY soldiers. So the power of both the cannon and the guns performed astonishing work, causing many soldiers of the EASTERN ARMY to disgrace themselves by retreating to their camp.
However, Ieyasu Tokugawa moved his camp from Mt.Momokubari to Jinbano(Shogiba). The morale of the EASTERN ARMY eventually improved, and soldiers made an onslaught against Ishida corps. The Ishida was attacked by the several fold military power of the EASTERN ARMY. At last the Ishida forces were cornered at the palisade of his home territory.
As for the war situation, the WESTERN ARMY was working hard. Mitsunari was convinced that the WESTERN ARMY would be victorious. If Mori’s army at Mt. Nangu and Kobayakawa’ forces at Matsuo attacked the EASTERN ARMY. Mitsunari gave the order to light the beacon for the west military all-out attack. But Yoshikawa’s forces were spread out in front of Mori’s forces, and Mori’s forces was not able to move.
The WESTERN ARMY was routed due to the betrayal of Hideaki Kobayakawa and Yasuharu Wakizaka, therefore, Mitsunari escaped from the battlefield to Mt. Ibuki. A few days later the soldiers of Yoshimasa arrested Mitsunari in Furuhashi village, and later he was beheaded in Rokujo-Gawara in Kyoto.
