Chukichi Matsudaira, Naomasa and Ii’s Camp Site was on the eastern side of the precincts of the East burial mound
for heads of the war dead. Strong general Saizo Kani of the Fukushima’s forces was deceived by Naomasa Ii, Tadayoshi Matsudaira and others who had pretended to be on patrol, but instead they fired on Ukita’s forces. After that they fiercely attacked on the Shimazu’s forces with Tadakatsu Honda. |

Naomasa Ii was one of the Four Heavenly Guardians of the Tokugawa clan, and the father-in-law of Chukichi Matsudaira. When he chased Yoshihiro Shimazu, he was shot by a sniper and was seriously injured. Two years later Naomasa died from the side effects of this injury. |

Tadayoshi Matsudaira was the fourth son of Ieyasu Tokugawa, and was the son-in-law of Naomasa Ii. When he chased Yoshihiro Shimazu, he was shot by a sniper and was seriously injured. Seven years later Tadayoshi died from the side effects of this injury in Edo. |
